Just recently, the Senate and House of Representatives are set to approve the proposed Php 4.1 trillion national budget for 2020. Moreover, the expanded bicameral conference committee is set to meet in Makati. The panel is composed of 23 House Members and 14 senators.
“We will convene tomorrow morning to discuss and sign the report on the final draft of the budget. Later in the afternoon, we will try to ratify the report,” states House Minority Leader Martin Romualdez, in an article by Philippine Star.
Moreover, the committee has appointed Isidro Ungab, Davao City Representative and Appropriations Committee Chairman, and Sonny Angara, Senate counterpart, to draft the common version of the proposed budget for 2020.
“Hopefully, it will. So far, we have finished the committee report (on the final version), but it seems that senators want to review it today,” states Isidro Ungab, Davao City Representative and Appropriations Committee Chairman, in the same Philippine Star article.
“Ninety to ninety five percent of the budget has been reconciled, but the remaining 5-10 percent could be the killer,” states Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano. These are no pork, no parking (hiding of funds) and the need for full transparency,” he adds.
To date, the House has made Php 9.5 billion in realignments in the budget. Moreover, the Senate has realigned Php 206 billion.
