Possible GCQ in Iloilo City If Cases Continue to Rise

GCQ in Iloilo City

Possible GCQ in Iloilo City: Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in a social media post, alerts Ilonggos that the locality may be placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) should cases continue to rise.

“We are considering requesting the [Inter Agency Task Force] IATF for a higher quarantine status like GCQ. Cases continue to rise and our hospitals are getting full,”states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas in a social media post.

“Our cases are increasing, our quarantine facilities are getting full, and it is getting increasingly difficult to get to the hospitals for COVID cases,” says Mayor Treñas in a former post.

In an update dated May 15th, there are a total number of 48 confirmed cases, including 1 death.

It may be recalled that the local government requested a temporary suspension of all travel for a period of seven days (Iloilo City to Negros Occidental) except for uniformed personnel and for medical and humanitarian reasons. The motion was joined by the province and endorsed to the national IATF.
