Just recently, President Rodrigo Duterte stated that he accepts the apology of ABS CBN over the non-airing of his political ads during the 2016 election period. It can be recalled that ABS CBN execs expressed their apologies to the president. It can also be recalled that Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo stated that the broadcasting network should have apologized a long time ago.
“Yes, nandyan yan. I accept the apology. Of course!” states President Rodrigo Duterte in an interview aired over the Presidential Communications Facebook page. However, the president added that he is ‘leaving it to Congress’ when asked about the network’s franchise renewal issue.
“We are sorry if we offended the President. That was not the intention of the network. We felt that we were just abiding by regulations that surround the airing of political ads,” states ABS CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak during the Senate hearing.
