Punot Restaurant Iloilo

Punot Restaurant Iloilo: One afternoon, we explored the wonders of Punot, Flavors of Modern Iloilo. | Punot, featuring classic Filipino dishes with a uniquely modern twist, is situated along the most ambient places in Iloilo. The resto is seated between the metropolitan Boardwalk (nearby Ayala Technohub and center of nightlife, Smallville Complex) and Iloilo River Esplanade, a 1.2-kilometer stretch by the Iloilo River. It has the perfect ambiance to dine in. Imagine sipping classic brewed coffee whilst looking at the Ilonggo skyline or witnessing a breathtaking sunset. Isn’t it perfect?

Inside, Punot is lined with elegantly refined interiors and interesting wood pieces. The flight of stairs takes you on a journey of Punot throughout the years – framed photographs of celebrities and handwritten messages of customers on plain white plates. The term ‘punot’ takes you back to the sea. It is reflective of the sun, sea, shore, and the life of a humble fisherman catching fish using a ‘punot’. Punot is a fish pen – an enclosure made with sticks and a nylon net to catch fish. It is a traditional manner of fishing in Iloilo – and even in nearby provinces.

What is even more captivating at Punot is the selection of Filipino dishes with a unique modern twist. Two things are for sure though, the taste is exceptional, and the serving is superbly large. One dish, for me, can be good for three to four people already. So come in hungry. Punot is ideal for families, friends, and large groups of people wanting to taste the best of Filipino dishes. For foreigners or Filipinos with visiting friends from abroad, Punot is the ideal one-stop shop to show guests the best of Iloilo and the best of the Philippines.
