President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a more relaxed quarantine for Iloilo City as it is now under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) from January 01 to 31. President Duterte initially placed the metro under general community quarantine but was later subjected to appeal.
“Iloilo City is now placed under Modified General Community Quarantine this month of January as we submitted an appeal to the National IATF since our cases are declining. With a less stricter quarantine status, we can now be able to gradually revive the economy that will create more jobs and open more opportunities for our fellow Ilonggos,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.
More businesses will be allowed to operate at a higher capacity with MGCQ.
Areas that remain under GCQ are the following: Metro Manila, Santiago City, Batangas, Tacloban City, Iligan City, Lanao del Sur, Davao City, and Davao del Norte. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is under MGCQ.
