Just recently, Sky Cable Corporation released an official statement on the cease and desist order issued to Sky Direct by the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC). It may be recalled that NTC issued an order to stop ABS CBN broadcasts of its TV Plus channels in Metro Manila including the services of Sky Direct.
According to the NTC, the franchise of Sky Direct parent Sky Cable Corporation expired last May 14, together with that of ABS CBN. With the expiration of RA 7969, Sky Cable no longer has any valid and subsisting congressional franchise to operate a Direct Broadcast Satellite Service.
