Surala Ninja: Students from the Ati community are the recipients of the ‘Future Classroom-Learning Innovation Project’ supported by the Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro), and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) of Japan last October 2020.
The project aims to enhance the achievement level of mathematics in elementary school children. A leading and globally established E-learning company from Tokyo, Japan, SuRaLa Net Co., Ltd, conducted a “Surala Ninja!” class where children learn math through animated ninja teachers on digital platforms.
Forty students from the mentioned community were given chance to utilize the Surala Ninja!’s personalized online lessons to develop their basic calculation skills. The benefits of customized learning is that children can learn individually through a game-like online class, practice, and answer drills at their own pace.
“Surala class is very beneficial to ATI children. They can use the computer and now they learn to count the number faster than before. Children are hoping to continue this class in the future,” states Ptr. Rogelio Elosendo, tribe leader.
Iloilo City is the sole city chosen for the Future Classroom-Learning Innovation project in the Philippines, aside from Jakarta and Bandung in Indonesia. Aside from Ati Tribe Mission Inc, famous schools in the city such as St. Joseph School (Iloilo), Inc. and Eden Grace Academy International Inc. also joined as partner schools for Surala Ninja!
Ms. Nur-Hannah Saad-Mirrar, project head and general manager of Miraipartners Learning Center is hoping to reach more children, especially those from low-income families or who face academic challenges. Read: Treñas Encourages Students to Enroll
