“The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rocks the world,” says Dra Pacita Gonzalez as she shares her vision for Iloilo City during her Townhall Meeting dubbed ‘Upclose and Personal’ at Hotel del Rio, last April 24. Dra Pacita Gonzalez is running for Mayor in the City of Love, Iloilo City. She is a former Representative of the second district of Zambales and a widow to Raul Gonzalez, former Chief of Presidential Legal Counsel and Secretary of Justice.

“My vision has a mission,” says Dra Pacita Gonzalez when asked about her plans for Iloilo. She promises to build the first-ever City Hospital if elected mayor. She also affirms that she will not get her salary, rather, donate it to charities and to the people who need it the most. During the Townhall Meeting, the lady mayorable was able to address the concerns of various sectoral representatives – the PWD sector, the LGBTQ sector, and the out of school youth to name a few. Dra Pacita Gonzalez is called by many the ‘Iloy sang Dakbanwa’ and is honored as a woman of action.

Despite not being in a position in the previous years, Dra Pacita Gonzalez still continues the Hon Raul M. Gonzalez Sr Foundation Inc which offers free consultation- including ECG, Xray, ultrasound, and dental services. The free clinic is located at the Hon Raul M. Gonzalez Sr Foundation Inc Museum and Clinic at Petalsville Subdivision in Tabuc Suba, Jaro.

Dra Pacita Gonzalez is blessed with four children. Her eldest son, Raul Gonzalez Jr is a former Representative of Iloilo. Another son is the current president of the National Book Development Board, an organization committed to upgrading the publishing industry in the country. When asked about her husband, the good doctor replies “I am so lucky to be married to a person who has the heart for the people”.
