As a coworking space ‘frequenter’, I took the time today to visit a coworking space nestled inside the Viosils Arcade Building along MH Del Pilar Street in Molo. As a freelancer, I am always looking for a conducive place to work. I mean I can work at home – however, minus the air conditioning and quality internet, I just can’t get any work done. When it comes to coworking spaces, I guess I have my own criteria. This might not apply to everyone but, to me, the place should have the following: 1.) easily accessible sockets, 2.) comfortable temperature inside the workplace, and, 3.) quality internet connection – free water, iced tea, and/or coffee is a plus. Good lighting is also important.
So, today, I found myself inside CoLab Coworking Space. More than just desk space, CoLab offers a collaborative and engaging environment for students, professionals, freelancers, and like-minded individuals. It is proximal to John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University as well as to fast food chains Jollibee and Chowking, and restaurant Pub Express. CoLab is nestled inside the Viosils Arcade Building – hard to find at first, but there is a CoLab signage outside the building. What I really admire about CoLab is the hospitality and warm accommodation of the staff – really taking their time to explain the services. Regular rates are Php 25 per hour for students and Php 35 per hour for professionals. However, just for August 12 and 13 and in celebration of the International Youth Day, per hour price is down to Php 20 for both students and professionals.
CoLab offers fiber optic WiFi connection, free charging, free iced tea/juice, free use of board games/cards, use of common work/study space, lounge and pantry. Monthly memberships are also offered: Php 1,500 for students and Php 2,000 for professionals – 80 hours for a month. However, in celebration of CoLab’s 1st month of operation, membership is down to Php 870 for the month of August, limited to first 30 members only. Group memberships are also available.
As of writing, it’s my nth hour at CoLab. By far, it is a nice place to work in – the internet is good, the temperature just fine, sockets are plentiful, and the cheesecake – available at the pantry – is good, and everything about it is just nice. Will definitely come back here.
