I have always been baffled about what’s inside SM Strata nestled in front of SM City Iloilo – standing tall and majestic. At first it looked like a five storey parking space. It was even rumored to be a hotel. However, today marks a momentous event as we were allowed access to see what’s inside the still-not-completed SM property. SM Strata is an 18-storey tower with 12 (7th to 18th) levels designed to accommodate business process outsourcing locators and offices.
Garnering a total area of 58,346.12 sqm, the project aims to provide job opportunities to the surrounding communities and to establish BPO presence in densely populated neighboring towns. The building is located at the Benigno Aquino Avenue, which serves as the city’s principal transport backbone. Thus, there will be easy access to transportation. The building will also have a system that will minimize the threat of traffic build-up. Private vehicles may opt to drop their passengers at the main entrance or at the parking entrances on all four above-ground parking levels (2nd to 5th floors).
The SM Strata started construction last March 7, 2016 with an estimated project cost of more or less 2 billion pesos.
The building is estimated to generate around 12,300 employees per shift not including tenants coming in at the ground floor. The design of the building complements the existing mall across, SM City Iloilo, the only Supermall in Iloilo which expanded by adding a building within the property and highlights SM Strata as the tallest structure in the city.
And just today, July 19, Savemore opened its doors to the public. Savemore is located on the ground floor of SM Strata and is projected to be the go-to place of Strata occupants for grocery needs. The grand opening was graced by Iloilo City Mayor Jose ‘Joe’ Espinosa III, Iloilo City Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, Iloilo City Councilor Candice Tupas and SM guests led by Mr. Herbert Sy. Treats and samplers were given after the blessing and ribbon cutting.
The new SM Strata and commercial spaces will be able to offer employment prospects and will propel economic benefits to the communities.
