An article by GMA News relayed the sentiments of Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla over the alleged Zoom scandal that involved barangay officials in Dasmariñas City. According to Remulla, there is no need to investigate.
“He resigned, that’s number one. The barangay (treasurer) resigned. What is there to investigate? What is there to prosecute? It was an act of two consenting adults although they were both married. There is nothing to investigate. They resigned,” states Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla.
Remulla stresses that he does not condone the behaviour of the two officials. However, he appealed for compassion for the families of the individuals involved in the scandal.
Moreover, the Department of Interior and Local Government reminds public officials that they are expected to display the highest moral and ethical standards as stipulated in Republic Act. 6713, referred to as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
